Starting Again

Ten years ago, I felt like I had finally found a rhythm—heading out into Downtown Dallas with my Canon Rebel T4i, just walking and shooting whatever unfolded in front of me. Then one night, a stupid bit of drunken buffoonery ended with a loud pop—and that was it.

I tore the ACL in my left knee. Even after surgery, walking hasn’t been the same since. Between that, life, mental health, and what turned into an Everest-sized mountain of excuses, my camera stayed buried in my bag. Somewhere along the way, I stopped going out. Not all at once—just gradually, until it wasn’t part of my life anymore.

But it always felt like something was missing. Lately, that’s been harder to ignore. This isn’t about picking up where I left off. It’s about starting again—with a different perspective. Less about chasing shots, more about being present enough to catch them when they happen.

No pressure. No expectations. Just going out again.

And with a bit of random YouTube inspiration, and some fun with adult money, I've reinvigorated my kit:

  • Canon EOS R6 Mark II
  • Canon EF 85mm f/1.8
  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8
  • Canon EF 24–105mm f/4L IS
  • Canon EF 70–200mm f/4L

More To Come

I’ll be posting here as I shoot more, but if you want to follow along in between:
